Objective: To identify and explain the behavioral harms associated with implementing enjoining good and forbidding evil in the organizational housing of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army from a socio-psychological perspective and to propose solutions for improving the effectiveness of this religious duty.
Methodology: This applied study employed a sequential exploratory mixed-methods design with a descriptive-analytical approach. In the qualitative phase, data were collected through document analysis and semi-structured interviews with experts and analyzed using thematic analysis. The extracted dimensions and components of behavioral harms were then operationalized into a researcher-developed questionnaire. In the quantitative phase, the questionnaire was administered to the statistical sample, and the data were analyzed using descriptive statistical indicators to prioritize the identified behavioral harms.
Findings: The findings showed that the behavioral harms can be classified into two main dimensions: enforcers and audiences. In the enforcers' dimension, the most significant harms were weak persuasive ability, arbitrary practices, inadequate knowledge, and insufficient implementation skills. In the audience dimension, the major harms included resistance to criticism, stubbornness, unwillingness to accept reminders, and weak religious beliefs.
Conclusion: Behavioral harms in implementing enjoining good and forbidding evil result from the interaction between the behavior of enforcers and the responses of audiences. Therefore, improving enforcers' knowledge, communication, and persuasive skills, strengthening audiences' awareness and religious beliefs, and employing scientific and interactive communication methods can effectively reduce these behavioral harms and enhance the effectiveness of implementing this religious duty in the organizational housing of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army.
