The growth of jihadist and takfiri groups in the countries of the West Asian region since 2011 has marked a new chapter in the region's security arrangements. Emerging Islamic fundamentalist groups adopted tactics and strategies of warfare in urban areas and settlements to enhance their combat capability by adopting asymmetric and irregular war strategies as opposed to the classical and regular armies of the target countries. The result of this dangerous strategy has been the widespread destruction of cities, the destruction of vital infrastructure, the imposition of exorbitant costs on governments and nations, the displacement of people, the displacement of populations, and the massive wave of migration. Analysis of the documents conducted in this study revealed that the tactics and strategies of urban warfare implemented by terrorist-takfiri groups and the Syrian army in the field of Syrian operations were significantly different from contemporary urban wars. In urban environments, the use of panic tactics to defuse cities, the adoption of network warfare strategy, new combined warfare strategies, lightning warfare strategies, tunnel warfare, etc., became more apparent, complicating the battlefield in the occupied cities. have been. Accordingly, based on theoretical and field analysis of the nature of urban warfare in the region, scenario building to deal with similar threats in urban areas of the country is one of the most important security programs of the Armed Forces, based on which new forecasts and plans in the field of war and urban defense. The way of organizing the battle, changing the battle plans, forming rapid reaction units, conducting exercises, changing weapons and equipment, etc. should be on the agenda.
