The long, hard-to-reach heights of the long play with high peaks and steep slopes and continuous cuts are of special importance in the border region of Kermanshah province. In the early days of the war, Iraqi forces used long-range surveillance, but the features of the heights led to engineering work on the road and the deployment of Iraqi units there, while increasing dominance over Qasr Shirin and taking control of Sarpol-e Zahab. To get this important concession from the Iraqi forces, after three months of work by the reconnaissance forces in the western region, the army and the Revolutionary Guards planned the first semi-extensive operation in the region, which began with the so-called Long Game Operation on 2/1/1360. It lasted eight days, during which Iranian and Iraqi forces repeatedly clashed. Iraqi forces used air support to support their units, but Iranian fighters were barred from the road and provided adequate air support and fire support, so they were unable to deploy on all targets. They failed to consolidate the 1150 peak and one of the 1100 peaks. In this operation, the Army Air Force played a significant role, during which pilot Ali Akbar Shiroudi was martyred.
